MAXIMUM REWARDS for Stefano Marinaz Landscape Architecture

Redcliffe Road_ Chelsea

This Chelsea garden was designed by Stefano Marinaz Landscape Architecture who commissioned us for its construction. The access problems through the narrow, finished interior of the house were overcome with the use of a heavy lift crane which allowed us to bring in mature Amelanchier lamarckii trees which would have otherwise been impossible to get through the property. These, along with the very heavy, feature stone bench, were lifted over the house and into the garden where they could then be easily positioned.

The garden boundary was created with an attractive pattern of Iroko wood in two different sizes of batten fixed horizontally. The rear of the garden houses two large air conditioning units that provide cool air for the house. These, alongside a storage area are discreetly hidden, again with Iroko wood, but this time set vertically. These battens of three different depths provide a unique textured, staggered pattern when viewed from an angle. Flush fitted LED lights in the paving produce a beautiful play of light and shadow against the hardwood.

The riven faced stone bench sits suspended on stainless steel supports which creates space for the softening groundcover foliage planted beneath. The limestone patio gives way to a large planted bed where the Amelanchier trees cover a dense undergrowth of plants with year round interest.
